I made a “master sheet” with all the tiles to keep things organized. I implemented a new material system for tiles. In addition to the visible texture, each tile had a lower resolution bitmap which defined the material at a given spot. They are now baked into tiles, so map editing is much easier.

In Azul , 2 to 4 players will collect tiles and tile their 5×5 grid in a way that allows them to get the most points. Players take turns drawing from factory tiles in the middle. After drawing tiles, you have to place all of them on your board. The way that you place tiles determines how many points you earn.

But as you can see in the image, tiles are dissapearing. Hello, I am having a huge problem. I am making a platformer game. It is basically a tilemap moving in the opposite direction of the player to work as a camera that follows. In other threads I read that there was a macro to disable culling, but I don’t know where it is in cocos2dx 4.0.

If you want to tile an image, you need to use the Tield (Type) mode of the Sprite component. If you want to tile an image on top of a touchable image, then you need to use the BlockInputEvents component to intercept the response events. Touchable Sprite – Tiled image (BlockInputEvents)

And they are loaded pretty much as-is into GPU memory as giant structured buffers, so at least that much VRAM is needed too (plus more for sorting, plus in the official viewer implementation the tiled splat rasterizer uses some-hundreds-of-MB).

In any large open world, you're going to have to have individual tiles that get streamed in as the player approaches them - there's no reason to fit the entire visible world into memory at any given time with all the bells and whistles when the player can only see a small part of it.
